Course Descriptions

Spanish I
This course represents an introduction to the Spanish language via basic grammar and conversation. Emphasis is placed on meaningful communication in an authentic, real-life context. It is student-oriented, based on inquiry, problem solving and application concepts. Students explore themes and issues across content areas and make connections to the multicultural world of the 21st century.
Spanish II
This course continues the focus on meaningful communication with increasing accuracy of expression. Further readings and discussions dealing with the culture of Spanish-speaking countries will be conducted.
Honors Spanish III
This course includes conversations depicting various aspects of Spanish and Hispanic life and culture. Students will learn more advanced grammatical expressions through oral/written individual exercises and group work. Students will engage in more frequent individual presentation to the class. Note: This course is weighted according to BOE policy.
Dual college credit may be earned upon successful completion of this course with Camden County College at the student’s expense.
Honors Spanish IV
This course includes a more intensive study of Spanish grammar, culture, and literature through oral, written and reading activities. Students will engage in daily Spanish conversation and writing. Students will also participate in individual and group performance-based assessment. Note: This course is weighted according to BOE policy.
Dual college credit may be earned upon successful completion of this course with Camden County College at the student’s expense.
Italian I
This course represents an introduction to the Italian language via basic vocabulary, grammar and conversation. Emphasis is placed on meaningful communication in an authentic, real-life context. It is student-oriented, based on inquiry, problem solving and application concepts. Students explore themes and issues across content areas and make connections to the multicultural world of the 21st century.
Italian II
This course continues the focus on meaningful communication with increasing accuracy of expression. Further readings and discussions dealing with the culture of Italian-speaking countries will be conducted.
