Seesaw For Beginners Hands-on Teacher Training Tips for SeeSaw Student

Many parents ask about homework in kindergarten.  Although Rodgers School does not assign formal homework in kindergarten, we do encourage regular practice to reinforce skills and concepts presented in school.

Seesaw is an online learning platform (virtual only).  You will receive a login sheet in your child's folder with specific directions about how to access Seesaw tasks for your child.  Seesaw works well with Chrome as your internet browser; or it is fine to try it using Edge.  Many parents download the Seesaw app and use it on a laptop or iPad (or other tablet) for best results.

There will be literacy, math, and other fun activities assigned daily.  If you do not have access to a device for your child, please let me know immediately.  I encourage you to begin exploring as soon as possible!  The activities directly reflect current skills and topics that are addressed in the classroom!  Feedback from students and their families has been consistently positive!

You will become familiar with the "add response" and "check" buttons in Seesaw, along with the many Seesaw tools.  I review submitted student work regularly. Completed and approved submissions become part of your child's online Seesaw journal.  Look for new activities each day/week.  Do not worry if your child does not complete every activity every day!  This resource is only meant to enrich your child's school experience and provide opportunities for extra practice.  Completion of Seesaw tasks is NOT a requirement.

Seesaw should not replace reading books along with your child, practicing handwriting, math facts, drawing, having discussions...please continue those meaningful tasks whenever possible.  Seesaw's purpose is for extra engagement in academic activities while having lots of fun!

Thank you for your valuable support and participation!
