At Home Learning:
Select a few activities each day. It's a great way to reinforce skills we are working on in school.
- Have your child practice writing their names. Create a sign in sheet. They can sign in each day before they start the activities.
- Practice counting sets to 20 or more. Think of different ways you and your child can count together.
- Read a book with your child. Ask them questions: Who are the characters? What happened in the story? What do you think will happen next?
- Draw a picture of your favorite part.
- Exercise. Get your bodies moving!
- Chant these nursery rhymes together: Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, and Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater. Have your child think of some words that rhyme with CAT, DOG and PIG
- Clothespin Counting (click to open link)
- Make A Board Game
- Help your child make a paper airplane. Have them throw it and see how far it goes. Mark the spot. Repeat several times and see which attempt goes the farthest.
- Find a favorite book and have your child retell the story. Encourage them to look at the pictures and use their memory of you reading it together to “read” the story to you.
- Write numbers 1-10 on index cards. Shuffle the cards. See if your child can put the cards in order from 1-10. Try 1-20.
- Have your child clap and count the syllables in these words: peppermint, house, gorilla, rainbow, dog, lollipop, and car.
- Practice the letters of the alphabet in a store, by playing I Spy. Can you find the letter A?
