TIPS FOR MRS. BURT’S FIRST GRADE CLASS
- Lunch Account: Breakfast is FREE for all students. Each student can eat breakfast in the classroom every morning. Please be aware that breakfast is NOT served on 2-hour delay days. Please make sure you fill out your Free and Reduce Lunch forms.
- Lunch Pin Numbers: Each student has a PIN for getting lunch. Our students will have a card to hand in with the PIN on it.
- Power School Updates: It is very important for you to log in to PowerSchool and update your information. If you do not know how to do this, please contact the office and they will help you with the process.
- Chromebooks: Each student is issued a Chromebook by the school. We use Chromebooks in our classroom. I do not send them home daily.
- Student Number: Each student in our class has a number. (You will see this next to your child's name.) This is our class in alphabetical order by last name. I use these numbers frequently for many different reasons. (One very important reason is in case of an emergency. I am able to do a quick attendance by calling students by their class number.)
- Home Folder: Each student will have a home folder. This folder is where anything that I need to see should be (doctor’s notes, homework, lunch money, etc.). The students will place these folders in a basket every morning. I will go through them each morning. Please be sure to empty this folder each night.
- Homework: Homework will be sent home Monday through Thursday. I will send a homework packet on Monday that will be due on Friday. These packets can stay in your child's folder during the week.
- Names: Please be sure to put your child's first and last name on jackets, lunch boxes, umbrellas, bags, gloves, hats, etc.
- Contact Info: Our classroom is #D-1. The phone number is 856-625-2700, Ext.8127. My e-mail address is kburt@gpsd.us
- WATER BOTTLES: Students are encouraged to bring in a water bottle to keep at their desks during the day. Please send in a SPORTS-type bottle with a top that is closed by pushing down or a straw that can be closed. (This will prevent spills!) I ask that only water is in the bottle. Other types of drinks tend to be sticky and are not easy to clean up if we have a spill.
I am looking forward to a great school year. Please read to or with your child as often as possible. Help with and check your child's homework each night. Ask your child,” How was your day?”
Together we will have a year!
