Mrs. Erin Pimpinella
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Temple University. I am a highly qualified teacher with NJ Standard Certification for teaching Preschool to Grade 6. I started my career at the Goddard School of Washington Township. I taught the Kindergarten Enrichment program for 2 years and was promoted to Director. In 2007, I was hired at J. Harvey Rodgers School to teach the Kindergarten Readiness (transitional Kindergarten) class. Five years later, I started teaching Kindergarten. I enjoy being an educator and try to make every day as fun and engaging as possible. I'm a firm believer in providing developmentally appropriate practice and providing students with hands-on activities.
As of September 2021, I started teaching Science and STEM as a special area. I enjoy working with all the students at J. Harvey Rodgers School and challenging them to learn new concepts. During the 2023-2024 school year, I was awarded the Glassboro Education Foundation Grant. These funds were used to purchase Sphero Indi Cars to teach coding to our Preschool and Kindergarten students. I'm so excited about starting my 17th year of teaching at Rodgers School this fall!
As the PTO teacher liaison, I distribute the monthly newsletters and flyers, plan and support fundraisers, help run family fun nights and advocate needs on behalf of the J. Harvey Rodgers students and staff. In the 2018-2019 school year, the PTO and I raised $23,000 towards the purchase of our preschool playground.
In 2018, I teamed up with Miss Sloan’s class to enter the UNLESS contest for the Philadelphia Zoo. We participated in a Lights Out Lunch Hour Campaign, raised over $1200 to protect the habitat of an endangered species and hosted our school’s first art show. We won 3rd place in the contest and were awarded $500 in prize money that was used to purchase school supplies for all the classes at J. Harvey Rodgers. We also won a $500 grant and started a recycling program at our school. I'm passionate about helping the environment and teaching about energy conservation. In 2021, I joined the EmPowered Schools program which educates students about saving energy and money in their homes and schools. Students use the school building and their homes as learning labs to solve real-world problems and generate cultural change by making energy efficiency visible, important, and doable. I'm happy to continue to be a part of this program today.
In 2014, I wrote a GEA grant along with my colleague, Alisa McDermott. We were awarded $2000 worth of science supplies as recipients of this grant. I was able to provide many new scientific experiences for my Kindergarten students. Science has always been a passion of mine.
I currently reside in Wenonah with my husband and my two daughters. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. I spent the summer running a weekly science class at Wenonah Lake. This year, we worked on bottle rockets, buoyancy, polymers, hurricanes, solar ovens, and physics. It was highly successful and a blast to teach!
