• BUS DISCIPLINE CODE AND CONSEQUENCES

    Although the bus code of conduct contains a listing of infractions, it is clearly intended not to be all-inclusive, since no list can be.  It is also intended that the administration and/or the Board of Education have the power to administer discipline for any other offense which is in violation of law or school district policy or procedures, or in violation of what is deemed accepted standards of conduct for students in the Glassboro School District. The administration reserves the right to use judgment on the severity of the following offenses.

    Student age/grade level is taken into consideration for all offenses.

    1.     Eating or drinking on bus:

    ·        1st offense – Verbal warning

    ·        2nd offense – Written warning

    ·        3rd offense – 2 day administrative detention

    ·        4th offense – 1 day suspension, parent conference

    2.     Throwing or shooting objects on bus (to cause harm to someone else):

    ·        1st offense – 3 day bus suspension

    ·        2nd offense – 5 day bus suspension

    ·        3rd offense – Loss of bus privileges

    3.     Smoking or lighting matches:

    ·        1st offense – 3 day bus suspension, parent conference

    ·        2nd offense – 5 day bus suspension, parent conference.

    ·        3rd offense – Loss of bus privileges

    4.     Fighting on bus:

    ·        1st offense – 5 day bus suspension, 1 day school suspension, parent conference

    ·        2nd offense – 10 day bus suspension, 3 day school suspension, parent conference

    ·        3rd offense – Loss of bus privileges

    *Individual school code; pending school investigation results.

    5.     Head, arms or legs out the window:

    ·        1st offense – Written warning

    ·        2nd offense – 1 day suspension

    ·        3rd offense – 3 day bus suspension, parent conference

    6.     Damage to bus:

    ·        1st offense – 3 day suspension, reimbursement for damages, parent conference

    ·        2nd offense – 5 day bus suspension, reimbursement for damages, parent conference

    ·        3rd offense – Loss of bus privileges

    7.     Using profane or foul language on bus:

    ·        1st offense – Written warning

    ·        2nd offense – 2 administrative detentions day bus suspension

    ·        3rd offense – 3 day bus suspension, parent conference

    8.     Will not remain in assigned seat:

    ·        1st offense – Reassign seat, verbal warning

    ·        2nd offense – Written warning

    ·        3rd offense –  2 administrative detentions

    ·        4th offense – 3 day bus suspension, parent conference

    9.     Refusal to follow driver directions and general misconduct:

    ·        1st offense – Written warning,parent conference

    ·        2nd offense – 3 administrative detentions; bus suspension

    ·        3rd offense – 3 day bus suspension, parent conference

    10.  Consistent tardiness to bus stop:

    ·        1st offense – Written warning, parent conference

    ·        2nd offense – 1 day bus suspension, parent conference

    ·        3rd offense – 2 day bus suspension, parent conference

    11.        A.  Weapons: (Any object that can do harm tosomeone else):

    ·        1st offense – 10 day bus suspension, 10 day school suspension

    ·        2nd offense – Loss of bus privileges

    B.   Look-A-Like Weapons:

    ·        1st offense – Confiscate weapon,written warning

    ·        2nd offense – Confiscate weapon, 3 day bus suspension, parent conference

    ·        3rd offense – Confiscate weapon, 5 day suspension, parent conference

    12.  Physical assault on driver:

    ·        1st offense – Loss of bus privileges, refer to Superintendent

    13.  Verbal assault on driver:

    ·        1st offense – 5 day bus suspension

    ·        2nd offense – 10 day bus suspension

    ·        3rd offense – Loss of bus privileges, refer to Superintendent

    14.  Unlisted Offenses

    ·        The administration reserves the right to deal with other offenses that may arise which are not included in the aforementioned list, in accordance with the severity of the offense.

    15.  Special Education Considerations:

    ·        The administration reserves the right to deal with special education students on an individual basis.

    Any infraction resulting in loss of bus privilege will be reviewed on a quarterly basis.

    All parent conferences will include driver, transportation supervisor or designee, principal or designee and parent.
