• All About Me

I enjoy getting to know all of my students each year, but now you get an opportunity to learn all about me!!!  How exciting!! ;-)

Born and raised in Glassboro, I was a real "tomboy".  My best friend just happened to be a boy - my next-door neighbor, Stanley. We spent our days climbing trees, riding horses, and jumping our MX bikes over homemade ramps.

When I was six years old, I attended J. Harvey Rogers Kindergarten and can still remember being read a story about the Jersey Devil in the library and playing on the playground during recess.

After Kindergarten, I attended St. Bridget's School until third grade.  I was very afraid of the nuns, but I made a lot of friends.  I really think that it was my third grade teacher, Miss Flint, who first inspired me to become a teacher.

My fourth through eighth grade years were spent at St. Mary's School all the way in Gloucester City!!  The teachers there were wonderful - further inspiring me to pursue teaching as a career.  However, it was quite a ride from Glassboro, and we had to take NJ Transit every morning.  I had to get up at 5:30am every day to catch the bus...yuck!!!

I continued my education in Gloucester City by attending four years at Gloucester Catholic High School.  These were some of the best years of my life!!  I had a lot of fun in high school and was involved in many activities, including the Drama Club, Track & Field, and the National Honor Society.

I graduated from Rutger's University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with minor degrees in Art History and Criminal Justice.  I then went to Rowan University and earned my Education degree.

Today, I am starting my twenty-sixth year at Bowe School.  This is also my second year as a 6th-grade Content Area Specialist in World History! I have loved every moment of my time here.  My life has gone through several changes since my first days at Bowe.  I married my wonderful husband, Keith, in 2005, changing my name from Miss Brida to Mrs. LoCastro. We adopted our beautiful golden retriever-chow mix named Maxine a year later. In April 2008, we welcomed our beautiful son, Salvatore Anthony-Noel.  Six years ago, we moved to our new home in Mantua, NJ. And last year we adopted our lab mix, Jake! Every year brings new experiences and a new journey!!!

I look forward to all of the wonderful moments life still has in store for me just as I look forward to another wonderful school year working to infuse my love of learning into my students.
