    Health and Physical Education

     

    1.       Teachers

              Mr. LaFiora - 6th grade

              Mr. Belh - 7th grade

              Ms. Parto - 8th grade

              

     

    2.       Grading Policy

              Preparation/Participation - SUMMATIVE GRADES

                         - begin each marking period with 100 points in each category

                         - both categories are SUMMATIVE grades (test grades)

                         - Preparation will be based on you having sneakers as well as dressed in a maroon and gold gym uniform.  This uniform can be any combination of maroon, gold, black, or gray.  If you do not

                           Have sneakers you are UNPREPARED. Each day that you are

                           Unprepared you will lose 10 points.  You CAN NOT get those

                           Points back.  

                         - Participation will be based on your effort.  If you make your best

    Effort, you should never lose points.  If you are not making an effort 

                           You will lose points.  There are 15 points each day in participation.  

                           5 for warmups, 5 for fitness, and 5 for our daily activity. 

                         - If you do not have sneakers, you will not be able to participate and

                           Will lose your 10 preparation points and your 15 participation points

                           For the day.  You can not get those points back.  

              Skill/Fitness - SUMMATIVE GRADES

                         - we will have assessments (both physical and written) throughout

                           The year and you will be graded on these.  They will go into the 

                           SUMMATIVE category (test grades).  

              Health - SUMMATIVE/FORMATIVE GRADES - held EVERY FRIDAY

                          - We will split by class and have health in the gym every Friday.  

                           There are lessons and activities we will do all together and others 

                           That we will split by grade level and teacher.  

     

    3.       Behavior/Discipline

              - we expect and demand your proper behavior during our class.  While we

                Understand middle school maturity levels, we will NOT tolerate disrespect

                Towards our staff or to one another.  

              - if you are misbehaving or disrespectful, you will be removed from the

                Activity and will lose participation points.

              - RESPECT - if we are talking, you are not.  If your classmate is speaking,

                You are not.  

              - Parent contact/Disciplinary Action - there are always consequences for

                Your actions and you will be held accountable for them with your 

                parents/guardians and administration.  

     

    4.       Medicals

              - if you are not feeling well or are injured, a parent note/excuse is good for

                One class and it goes directly to Nurse Begolly.  

              - if the illness or injury is more severe, you MUST have a doctor’s note for 

                You to be excused from class.  

    - if your medical excuse is for over 2 weeks, you will have written 

      Assignments to complete to keep your grade where it belongs. 

     

    7.       Drinks/Bathroom

              - Bathrooms are to be used in the locker rooms during the 5-7 minutes we change.  Drinks will be permitted after asking permission. 

     

    8.       Drills/Emergencies - BE PREPARED!

     

    9.     THERE IS NO JUDGMENT!

     

    10.     Keep your hands and feet to yourself - this is non negotiable.  You will be

              Asked to sit out of class and will lose participation points and parents and

              Guardians will be notified.  

     

    11.     Class - we will have as much fun as you allow us to.  If you are well

              Behaved we will enjoy ourselves.  BE PREPARED TO GO OUTSIDE

              AT ALL TIMES!
